A living vine sprouts from an established root bed and elongates continuously at steady biological speed. The growing tip steers instinctively toward the strongest aggregate light source in its sensory range, curving through open space like a slow green ribbon.

Success hinges on guiding this tender tip across designated fertile soil patches to produce vibrant blossoms. Once you achieve the sector bloom quota, the garden stabilizes and unlocks the next trial. However, the vine has a finite growth budget represented by total stem segments. If your path meanders excessively, the plant exhausts its vital energy before reaching the final patch. Furthermore, lamps project intense heat at their center; placing a light too close to the leading shoot burns the tender leaves and instantly halts growth.

How to Beat Sector 4 (Avoiding the Starvation Trap)

Sector 4 introduces a narrow rock canyon flanked by two isolated soil beds and an ominous dead-end wall. The common beginner trap is dropping both lamps near the top-right flower early on. When the vine races toward the bright glow, it strikes the canyon wall head-on or runs out of segment length before reaching the second, shadowed patch down below.

To clear Sector 4 reliably, use a leapfrog strategy. Park Lamp 1 just above the lower soil clearing so the vine enters a wide, lazy upward arc. Keep Lamp 2 pulled back behind the rock barrier. The instant your flower blooms in the lower bed, immediately pick up Lamp 1 and drag it into the upper right corner. The shifting light pulls the stem smoothly around the canyon corner without ever grazing the dangerous stone obstacle.

Light Routing for Sectors 5, 8, and 14

Later garden stages incorporate tighter segment budgets, multiple granite crags, and tight scorch boundaries:

  • Sector 5 (Dual Pivot): Space your two lamps into overlapping twilight corridors. Instead of dragging lamps long distances, alternate small nudges along the center line so the vine performs a smooth S-curve through both soil plots.
  • Sector 8 (The Granite Labyrinth): Never place a lamp directly behind a wall corner. The vine will attempt to burrow straight into the rock face. Always place the beacon diagonally past the bend so the tip rounds the corner cleanly.
  • Sector 14 (The Frugal Sprout): Leaves zero room for wasted stem segments. Position your final lamp far beyond the last soil patch so the vine travels in a perfectly straight, fuel-efficient bee-line across all target nodes.

Why did my vine suddenly turn brown and stop growing?

You either exhausted your segment budget or placed a lamp too close to the growing tip. Keep lamps outside the inner red scorch radius, and maintain direct paths between soil targets to conserve stem segments.

Can I collide with my own older stems?

The growing tip passes harmlessly over previously formed stem segments, allowing you to cross your own trail if needed. However, looping backwards consumes valuable stem budget, so straight trajectories remain optimal.

How do multiple lamps calculate which way the vine turns?

The vine calculates steering by weighting distance to all lamps on screen. Closer lamps pull with significantly greater strength than distant ones, allowing you to fine-tune turning radius by sliding lamps closer or further away.
